Hello Dear Friends:

As in past trips to Kenya, I will be sending out a blog (more of a travelog), sharing a daily account of our experiences in Kenya. So for the next 12 days you will find this in your inbox. If you do not wish to receive this please reply to this email and let me know.

On the morrow 7 of us will travel to Kenya for the Dedication of our New Children’s Home in Kakamega Kenya. It will be the first time the members of our board in Seattle, will congress with the members of our Board in Kenya and we are looking forward to that.

In our work with children in the slum areas of Kenya we come across orphaned and abandoned children on a regular basis. Several of our staff have taken in some of these children but most of them have to be left to the mercies of the Lord. Five years ago our staff in Kenya came to me and pleaded for a place to care for these children. Shamefully I confess that I am always a little slow to say “yes” to the Lord where major steps of faith are involved, but when a pastor friend of mine in Kakamega came to me and said he would donate his own land to build a children’s home I knew the Lord was giving me a kick in the rear to get going. It has taken us 3 years of hard work and prayer but we are now putting on the final touches on this $400,000 project. As always, I have no idea how we managed to raise this money and still maintain all of our other vital programs in Kenya. Obviously the Lord sold some of those “cattle on a thousand hills” that He owns to finance this. Thank you Lord!

Please keep us in your prayers especially for our health. And please pray for us as we moved through the process of selecting 100 kids to be a part of our first Home of Grace family. It’s not an easy process, but in the end the rewards are measured in the transformed lives of God’s most precious treasures, the children of the world!

It’s Thanksgiving Day, and we have so much to be thankful for. I especially want to thank all of you for sharing your blessings with the poor and the needy of this world.

Blessings to you all
