LEAVING FOR KENYA IN A FEW DAYS

In a few days we will depart for Kenya with a group of 20 Students from Kings High School. Along with them will be 5 adult chaperones; including my daughter Deborah and Eric Rasmussen – the head of Kings Schools. At a meeting yesterday I told the students that my objective for them in Kenya was to “Make them Rich”, because proverbs 2:13-14 says; “finding wisdom and gaining understanding is more profitable than silver or fine gold.

It has been my observation that, when it comes to the suffering and poverty in the world abroad, there are few who understand how painful life can be for the poor nor do we understand that we can be of enormous help with only a little effort on our part. Please keep us in your prayers for the next two weeks that God will use this time to make a permanent impact on these young people because I believe that many of them will be in a position to do a great deal of good in coming years of their lives.

ONE THING I COULD USE YOUR HELP WITH

During our visit I would like to give $500 to each of our 4 Microfinance groups to bolster their revolving funds. We have 4 microfinance programs that help widows and poor women start businesses to support their families. There is the Kakamega Olive Tree group, The Majengo Widows Olive Branch group, the Narok Olive Garden group and finally the DANSO Aids Support Network group in Nairobi. Over the last few years hundreds of poor women and widows have taken small loans to start successful businesses to support their families. If you are in a position to send a gift in any amount for this work please give online at www.worldcompkenya.com/give or mail your gift to Worldcomp Kenya, 7758 Earl Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117.

As always I will be sending out a daily email sharing what’s happening and the special things the Lord does when we are in Kenya. If, for any reason, you do not wish to receive this daily blog please send an email to rvicknair and simply say “unsubscribe”.

Blessings to you and yours,

Richard Vicknair
