Home of Grace – Nairobi

On our final visit today to the Worldcomp Orphanage we brought 30 children’s books that I had purchased in a second hand store nearby. There was not a single book yet at the Orphanage. Actually I thought the books would be a non-event for the kids, but I was shocked when the children grabbed at the books as if they were fine chocolate. This is something I have never seen in my world. Once we passed out the books the kids just sat around the table reading, looking at pictures and laughing. Several of them did not know how to read so they just looked at the pictures and made up their own stories. They didn’t want to stop for dinner. I took a lot of pictures because I just had no idea how much these books would mean to the kids. Valerie and I have grown to love these children so much. We also admit that we look forward to the way they charge at us to hug us everytime we arrive.

Home of Grace – Kakamega

Construction has already begun on the new Kakamega “Home of Grace” Orphanage in Western Kenya.  The ground is being prepared and we will be laying the foundation in a few months.  The estimated cost of this facility will be $100,000.  Through a number generous gifts, we have now raised almost half of the money needed for this project.  This facility will be a home for 50-60 orphans.  It will also be Worldcomp’s Western Center of Operations in Kenya.  It will have two guest apartments for short-term mission workers to stay in while they serve in Kenya.  The picture above was the first architectural design.  Since then, we have revised the design to make it a 3-story building.  We realized that we needed more space for various ministries and to store medical supplies for our medical services in Western Kenya (Kakamega, Kisumu and Majengo).

This is, by far, largest project that we have ever undertaken, but we are moving forward with the assurance of God’s direction and His provision.  We are asking all those who have a heart for the ministry of Worldcomp to prayerfully consider making a contribution to this major project.  We can promise you that all money received for this project will go 100% to this facility.   Please don’t think that any gift is too small.  Mountains are moved, one shovel at a time!
