SOMEBODY CARES CAMPAIGN

WORLDCOMP KENYA
SOMEBODY CARES CAMPAIGN
FEEDING CHILDREN IN DISTRESS
2016 Goal $10,000

There are 2.5 million people living in the 17 slum areas around the city of Nairobi in some of the worst conditions in the world. Half of these people are children under the age of 14. We have visited these slum many times in the last 10 years. As we weave our way through the maze of narrow corridors we see large numbers of children sitting idly out on the doorsteps. In many cases these are 7 or 8 year-old children who are babysitting younger siblings while their parents or guardians are out trying scrap up a few shillings to buy some food for the family. There is no school for these children because their families cannot afford their school-fees. We have often stopped and greeted these poor children. Many of them are dressed in filthy rags and visibly showing the signs of malnutrition: thin hair, yellow eyes, grey spots on their scalp, skinny arms and protruding stomachs.

HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS

Here in this wasteland of hopelessness, Worldcomp has established our Children’s feeding centers and schools. Each day, in three separate slums, more than 600 children are being fed, educated and physically cared for by our Worldcomp volunteers. In the last 9 years we have made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of children and also in the lives of their parents.

2016 SOMEBODY CARES CAMPAIGN

During the holiday season, Worldcomp Kenya endeavors to raise the money to continue to feed, educate and care for these precious children. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 which will supply about half of the annual budget for this project. A little contribution goes a long way in this effort because it only cost 15 cents a day to feed a child (a $10 gift will feed a child for two months!)

Let me encourage you to join us in this project this year. If you are already giving to the poor through some other organization or channel, that is wonderful, but if you are not, I want to encourage you to respond to this request.

You can give in several different ways: Give by mail to Worldcomp Kenya Relief, 7758 Earl Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117. Give on line: www.worldcompkenya.com/give Please designate your gift to “Somebody Cares”. Your contributions are tax-deductible!
