I had lunch today with my friend Scott Andrina. He told me an amazing story about something that happened a year ago. A year ago God gave Scott a prophetic vision about me and Worldcomp. The Lord told him that I would be a part of something in Kenya that would have a dramatic impact on thousands of people and on the nation of Kenya. He saw a scorched field that had been burned down to nothing, but out of the field beautiful flowers were coming up all over the place. There was a sign in the middle of the field that read “He shall rise above his associates”. Scott knew that this word was for me.
He was very excited about the vision and tried to call me. He couldn’t reach me so he called my daughter, only to find out that I was just going into surgery at that very minute for open heart surgery. Now Scott has an intense dislike of hospitals but he decided to go the next day and visit me. He actually stood at the door of the hospital and thought about not going in. Fortunately there were two women standing at the door as if waiting for someone. If you know Scott, he never keeps anything inside, so he told the women about the vision. “We are Christians”, they said; “and we think you should just go up and tell him what God has told you.” When he walked into my room I was heavily medicated, but my daughter Rebekah was there so he told her why he had come. Then he took my hand and in a few minutes told me about his vision.
I have absolutely no recollection of Scott’s visit or of the word he brought, so yesterday I was hearing this word for the first time. The beauty of it is, I was not only hearing it; I have seen it with my own eyes in this last year. Beautiful flowers are blooming in the burnt fields of Kenya. They are coming up here and there and everywhere. I know that we have come to Kenya for such a time as this. It’s as if the weeds needed to be burned for the seeds, which were already in the ground, to feel the warmth of the sun. The seeds from which these beautiful flowers are springing up were planted by the Lord in the lives of Kenyan men and women long ago and we are simply there watering them with resources, with encouragement and with prayer.
I am reminded of the Scripture in Isaiah 61:3-4: He gives them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.
The other reason Scott was meeting with me is this: He is a realtor with Caldwell Banker and the Lord has been blessing Him. Recently, while he was fasting, the Lord spoke to him that he was to give 30% of all of his commissions to Worldcomp to assist the poor, the widows and the orphans of Kenya. I want to thank everyone for coming out for Kenya night last Friday. It was our largest crowd ever. A great love and sense of comradeship is growing between us as we pray and work together to serve the needy.
